What Is The Deal With Christmas Carols?
Every Christmas, you hear them outside your house. It’s a band of people singing Christmas carols trying to spread a little cheer. More and more people join and soon you have an entire mob of jolly Christmas carol singing people. Where did this custom come from and how do all of these people know all the words to all of these Christmas carols? Who knows. But you can join in, even if you don’t know all the words. Singing Christmas carols at Christmas time brings joy to others, it can make you feel really good and it’s a great way to get to know the people in your neighborhood.
What If There Aren’t Carolers Where You Live?
If the above situation is alien to you, as in nobody sings Christmas carols in your neighborhood, but you’d like them to; maybe it’s time to start your own Christmas carol troupe. If you have community functions, as most neighborhoods do, why not pass around the idea to your fellow neighbors. Or, if you know your neighbors, ask if they’d like to join. It can be fun and it can be a great way to get to know those people you’ve probably waved to but never actually spoken to.
Do You Know The Words
Christmas carols and Christmas music in general basically hasn’t changed for a very long time. So you should be able to find books with the words to the various carols in them, or you can just look them up on the internet. If you join a Christmas carol troupe and you don’t know the words, fake it until you learn them. If you’re moving your mouth but nothing’s coming out, nobody will know with all the singers bellowing away around you. You’ll soon pick up the words and then you can join in as you first intended.
This Christmas, don’t just stay indoors by the nice fire (even though that’s tempting), instead, go outside and sing some Christmas carols. More and more people will join and soon the entire neighborhood may be bonding as the Christmas spirit is spread through song. Just make sure at least one of you knows the words. Then, the others will soon catch on. Christmas carols are basic songs, they’re not difficult to learn and there’s just something about them that gets people in the mood to celebrate family, friends and everything else that makes Christmas time so special.
